Have you met my friend Doubt?

Beware of the little enemy called Doubt, or should I say, “The friend” called doubt? Doubt is the enemy of Faith when we choose to live in it, to bash in its presence.

Doubt breeds FEAR and DISCOURAGEMENT.

Doubt is the Father of distrust and brother to low self-confidence. It is a tool the enemy uses to drive a wedge between you and your heavenly Father. We know that without Faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Doubt is the predecessor of Fear, which birthed in our lack of confidence in the promises of God. But my friend “Doubt” can be used to build strength as I wrestle in it, without given in to it. I have had my seasons of Doubt.

I think I’m wrestling in a season of doubt in a few areas of my life, as I type.
I pray this season is used to strengthen me, and build faith muscles in those areas. My entire relationship with the Lord is centered on Faith in the word of God. Faith is a major part of the foundation of the Christian faith. Throughout biblical history we see that where there is doubt, man tries to create his own paths. Doubt has spawned rebellious nations, corrupt leadership, other religions, heresy, bigotry, sin, and death. In the same way when we wrestle with Doubt in a healthy manner is used to spread the Gospel, change a nation, give life, redeem and restore hope.

In Matthew 20:20-21, Jesus explains the parable of the Fig Tree when the disciples asked how the fig tree withered so quickly. Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t DOUBT, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, `May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” Here we see it is not about the task or how big the issue; it is the Faith we place behind the task ahead. Faith produces action. I haven’t seen any mountains thrown into the sea, but I’ve seen some mountain like situations Dissolved!

Unhealthy doubt can potentially suffocate faith.

The Lord will use the colossal mountains of situations to build character. Difficult things in our lives can be used to demonstrate His Glory, to make His name Known and Display His Fame. I have come out of rough situations refined, reformed and most of all redeemed. The Lord calls out to you and I; to stay faithful, to stay committed, to stay the course, and to work the HIS plan. My little encouragement to myself…

A few bumps in the road should not throw us off course. We may need to stop for an alignment but the journey is not over.

God is FAITHFUL. I try to act decisively by recalling the Lord’s past faithfulness in my life. We must remember His promises by meditating on his Word. We grow our faith through his word daily.
Psalm 41:12 reminds, that the Father is always present with his Children. This assures me that I am not alone in my battles, challenges or setbacks. Human nature alone makes us all vulnerable to doubt. Trust God so that uncertainty and doubt does not shrink your Faith. Allow doubt to be essential to your faith by growing from it.
